Dr. Devon Barley found a love of chiropractic after being under chiropractic care from birth by his father. The profound experience of less illness, quicker recovery from sports injuries and better overall health, inspired him to follow in his father’s footsteps.
At Greenwich Bay Chiropractic, we pride ourselves on results. Through specific chiropractic treatment, non-surgical spinal decompression therapy and customized exercise plans, our unique protocol is the most effective in the state of Rhode Island.
Many people equate “natural” or “holistic” to “not as effective”. Over the last 8 years, we have developed a proprietary protocol that has helped thousands of people regain the ability to do all of the things they need, want and love to do.
At Greenwich Bay Chiropractic, our motto is that we are relentlessly committed to enthusiastic service. We do anything in our power to make sure that patients are treated even better than the results that they get.
Growing up with his dad as a chiropractor, Dr. Devon Barley grew up understanding the power that chiropractic holds. Through watching his dad treat patients for over 37 years, Dr. Barley has made it his mission to carry on his family’s legacy. This unique insight has allowed Greenwich Bay Chiropractic to stay on the forefront of cutting edge and effective technology to give patients honest answers and lasting results.
Chiropractic is about proper application. Understanding that a “one size fits all approach” never works, Greenwich Bay Chiropractic treats every patient on an individual basis to address their specific needs, gently and conservatively. The use of digital x-ray and our tailored examination protocol allows us to fully understand the cause of the underlying problem. In many cases, the pain isn’t always where the problem is. Most cases solely chase pain reduction, without fully understanding the cause of the problem. All too often, this can mean wasted time, money and energy, only to have the problem return.
To make sure you reach your goals, we perform frequent re-examinations, so that we can ensure that you are both feeling and functioning better. This process also allows us to refocus and treat additional areas of complaint that may have arisen since beginning care. We want you to feel and function your best all over! By detailing a roadmap to better health, you will never be left wondering where you are in the process and if you are meeting goals as expected.
If we really had to break down why Greenwich by Chiropractic is so different, it would be that what we recommend for you is what we recommend if we were taking care of our own family. We work hard to provide an environment that is both welcoming and reassuring. Once you are a part of the GBC family, you are always part of the GBC family. Our approach involves meeting people where they are and providing a solution that is affordable, safe and even fun! We look forward to all the wonderful things that you’ll achieve in our office!
“I suffered from chronic migraines and had tried everything—chiropractic care, medications, even surgery options—but nothing worked. In desperation, I found Greenwich Bay Chiropractic and decided to give it one last try. The care here is personal, supportive, and most importantly, effective. My migraines are gone, and I’ve gotten my quality of life back without pills or fear of missing out on life’s moments.”
Initially, our number one priority is less pain, improved range of motion and better sleep. This is the active phase of the plan where we significantly tackle the acute phase of the injury to get you feeling your absolute best as quickly as possible.
In the corrective phase, we work not only to improve how you feel, but how you function. In this phase, we avoid taking two steps forward and ten steps back by focusing on structural correction. We want you to get back to doing the things that you love without re-injury. At GBC, we are foot on the gas!
It doesn’t make sense to get you better, just for it to all go bad again! We want you feeling and functioning your best for years to come. This phase ensures that you maintain all of the amazing progress you have made.
Life can look like a shell of what you had planned for yourself. To go from being active, playing sports, having fun doing hobbies, playing with grandchildren and doing house projects, pain injury and disability can stop the life you were meant to live in its tracks.
We waste time, energy and money looking up products, supports, supplements and quick fixes that often are not applied correctly or just don’t work. Despite what we wish, there is rarely a “quick fix”
In many cases, waiting to have a health problem properly evaluated can mean that you are doing additional damage. Improper biomechanics, lifting, bending and even exercises that you looked up on the internet can actually cause more damage and perpetuate the problem if done inappropriately. Just because something is “good” for one person, doesn’t mean it’s good for your specific case.
Chasing pain or symptoms alone is a poor indicator of how healthy or stable a problem is. People get stuck on the symptom roller coaster, one day is better and the next day is worse. Additionally, pain “ground hog day”: the pain is gone for a short period and then returns in a “here we go again scenario”.
All too often, we are all looking for a quick fix like injections or even surgery. While there is a need in certain cases for both, In many cases, this either ends in another cover up, or worse, a failure. Needle injections or surgery are all too common for conditions that have a natural fix and should be seen as a last resort, as they come with risks. While there is a time and a need, drastic measures can limit what life looks like in the future. The problem could have been fixed more conservatively.
We see many post-surgical spinal patients in the office on a daily basis. The most amount low back surgeries one patient has had in our office is 6! We think or surgery as “fixing a problem”, when in many cases, there are lasting an debilitating changes that occur from such a drastic measure.
Too often still, patients say that it just “is what it is”. Not only is this a physically draining problem, but it is emotionally draining too. This can affect personal and family relationships, as the mental anguish begins to affect emotional health.
It is the age old adage of “it hurts so I do less”, turning your big and wonderful life into a much smaller one, limited by your body and your mind.
